Dharmaraja College, Kandy recorded their fifth successive win for the
season when they swamped St. Aloysius College, Galle by 50 points (5 goals, 3
tries) to nil in their Schools Singer Trophy rugby tournament match played at
St. Aloysius College grounds, Galle yesterday. At half time Rajans led 33-0.
Rajans back division displayed plenty of thrust and they tore into St. Aloysius
defence which collapses under this terrific onslaught most outstanding was their
promising centre Malinga Godigamuwa who scored four tries, two of them being
scorching 30 metre runs.
Winger Nirosh Wijesuriya too made some penetrative runs with two of them ending
in tries. The other try scorers were centre Asoka Weerasekara and lock forward
Dilanka Gunatillake who scored one try each.
Lock Lahiru Alahakoon goalled four tries from varying angles while full back
Akila Hettiarachchi goalled the other try.
Rajans have now beaten Prince of Wales College, Zahira College, Carey College
and St. Sylvester’s College.
